I just rebuilt this room in editor, not having access to it in-game. It's possible and I doubt that monster movement order will matter much in a room like this to make it impossible in the real version.
The alcove at the top makes it easier, but isn't necessary.

You can't make it to the brain without getting surrounded by monsters. As a matter of fact, I think that it's a lot easier to kill the brain last rather than not killing it last. You can leave one goblin alive before killing the brain, but that's about it. Otherwise you'll have to kill everything else first.
