Hi Guys. I am having probs with that room too. I know how to kill any snakes but HOW can I LURE the west queen roach out? I either block her or re-scare her up to the north west. I can get her to go into the south divet, but then I am unsure how to push her up to the north from there.

Any help is appreciated since I'm trying to beat this 8th hold.

Thanks,
-J

It sounds like you might be spending too much time trying to kill the first snake.

I am not spending time killing any snake. I just said "I have no probs killing snakes" meaning that killing the snakes isnt my problem. Killing the queen roach in the un-enterable chamber is my problem. I dont know how to lure her out. I took your advice and killed the queen roach in the south-west quadrant first, but that doesnt help with getting the queen in the chamber.....

O.K. guys. I just figured this out. It was another of those instances of NEEDING TO START AT A CERTAIN CORNER OF THE MAP. In this case, the SW corner. I was trying to start in the default north side. I had to first beat the room to the West of this room so that you can enter and get that trapped queen roach to be pushed north. Man, I KNEW it was IMPOSSIBLE from the north side, I just wasnt thinking that you had to beat the map in this certain method to be able to complete if from the west.....

Hmm, I'll apologise for assuming you entered from the west, from where my tips would have made sense, rather than from the north. Having said that, you had already found out that it was impossible from the north, which meant my tips could only apply if you entered from the west. Still, unless I badly misread your first reply, your attitude leaves a lot to be desired, considering I was trying to help, though I'm glad you managed to figure it out.

Hey Agiricus5. I would like for you to post a demo or at least explain how to beat this map from the north. I don't see a way to push the north west roach queen out of the locked in structure.
If I messed up and didn't see it, that is my bad. I have been drinking again tonight. However I can think of no way to push her up UNLESS there is a way to block the west passway of that structure so she is forced north through the east.

And about my working at EA. I did testing and design implementation for the Dungeon Keeper series, as well as System Shock 2. I guess testing games, talking to producers, doing bug reports, responding to first impression users, recommending the spider be moved from X to Y.....all these types of activity make me feel a little bit special or at least in a different user segment than your average gamer. Please forgive the arrogance; it is a part of my personality.

Well, you need to get to the SW at some point...

UNLESS there is a way to block the west passway of that structure so she is forced north through the east.

Hmmmmm, how could you accomplish that?

It is indeed possible. It tooke me 2200+ moves to solve the room that way (vs the 180 or so moves that the best demo from the other direction took), but it IS possible.

I have done all this witness the attached graphic of the room. But I must have done something wrong, e.g. coming in the room from the wrong way or messed up killing the snakes as I can't seem to get the last queen out of the box she is in.

Suggestions would be appreciated :D

seems so. ;) if you come in from the west the problem with "your" queen should solve itself...

Here you are, this is the non-optimized version. The movements are not good and speedly, but they shows you how i conquered the room.

There's a simple method of killing the very first snake, if you're entering from the west:
Click here to view the secret text

As for the other two snakes:
Click here to view the secret text

All you'll have to do is navigate around the snakes, which shouldn't be too tough, and to mop up the roaches after the snakes are gone, of course...

I am entering from the North, but when I move west to make the queen run, I can't get past the serpent in the NW because it is too long. Do I need to loop around in the southern area first?

Nope!

If you're in this situation:

Simply take one step south and wait a few turns. The snake will sort itself out. This works because:

Priority: Get the queen roach out of the chamber first;
ignore the snakes
