But Jacob, you say, you've only just released The Hunt for the Grinfidel, can you really have made a fourth part already?
Shouldn't you have been working for your psychiatry and neurology exams? Don't you realise that your lack of knowledge in these areas may result in mismanagement of patient in later life?

Er...yes (I'll blame Erik for that if it comes to it, for making DROD so damn addictive; not sure if that'll stand up in court though). But anyway, here's my new hold, which starts where the last one left off. You'll most likely enjoy it even if you've not played the rest.

There's no real reason why you should have to. The only reason you might want to is because the first room of this hold is the last room of the last one (rebuilt with different puzzles). So you may want to see both for the comparison. Otherwise, it's entirely different.

I'm a little puzzled as to why no-one's made any comments on my new hold up on the Holds board or on this one.
Not that I'm craving attention, it would just be good to get some feedback.

Have devised a method by which what you see at the end of the game (or in any later levels) depends on what you've seen before (only partially implemented in this update). As well as a sneaky level devised by the Slayer. Check them out.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that last version had a slight error in it, making one of the rooms uncompletable, so here's a new update.
If you've already played some of it and need warp stairs to a particular place, just ask.

actually went to End hold. I've added some warp stairs in level 1 entrance, so download the new version once you've done level 1 (if you've already been playing), or just download the new version! You won't have to redo any rooms therefore.

Just to let y'all know (though I think it's only Tim who's playing this): I am almost there, I only really have to tinker with a few secrets. But the hold will have:
1. Story, with various characters, who actually play a role in puzzles (without random scripting, of course). Resolution of the dispute between Beethro and the Slayer.
2. There is no number 2.
3. additional optional/secret levels, which will alter how the story goes and the paths you can take (don't worry, it's not like choose your own adventure, where you could miss out on a great chunk of story/gameplay if you chose the wrong route at the wrong time)
4. Original (?) way of making rooms secret.
5. Secret level designed by the (actually a) Slayer.
6. Much , much more.
7. All of the above.

As far as I am concerned this is the final version, so I won't be adding or altering it, unless someone finds a mistake. Will leave it up for a bit, before transferring to holds.
There are 3-7 levels.

Is it me? I found all the secrets of level 1, but I can't find the rest of them...

Thanks for the demo. I'm not too bothered that it's possible to open the doors out of order in the 1st level entrance, however, your demo did highlight an unintended solution with the eyes at the very end. Nothing major.
I take it you completed the hold? But found 4 or 5 levels?

I'm not sure you got it, but each of those demo files is a multi room demo of a level (the filenames are wrong, but I was too lazy too change them). For example, the first file contains nine demos of the first level.
You might want to see those demos as well.
(Just click on the "view all demos of this level" thingy... and click on the demos.)

Thanks Tim, I hadn't noticed that. You spotted a few unintentional solutions in my first level, but otherwise you're completing rooms as I would. I've attached an anyone edit version of the first level with entrance, 1S1E, 1N1E, 1N, 1S and 1N1W corrected. If you could have a quick glace at them at some point, that would be great. Thanks again.

Just letting you know, I got around to playing this today, and have 'finished' in two different ways, though I still have a lot of exploring to do. I might have a look at Tims demos later to see if any of my solutions are unintended as well.

Meanwhile, yet another great hold from Jacob!

edit: Actually, I'm stuck. As Tim has, I've found all the secret rooms in level 1, but not in all the others. I know what you mean with your hint above, but

First, just to point out that 1N in that new, first level only version is now not possible. I have fixed this and will implement in the final version. This does not affect anyone playing the whole hold.

I am really baffled as to what's going on, to be honest. And really annoyed, since I thought the setup was foolproof. I played through the *entire* hold myself before posting, and am 99.99% sure I didn't alter it before putting up on the board.

Yep, that's it. Demos don't show where level stairs took you, so I wasn't able to spot that.
Very odd, since I'd played the hold through and it worked fine, and since the stairs lead to where they're meant to in my version now. So it's not as if I'd altered it since playing. Is this a known bug?
Anyway, I deleted the stairs and re-did them. So try out the new version (there's a warp there, so should not be too much hassle). I've also added an extra level, later in the game.

I desided to play the first level again and evrything was OK except 1S. In the new version Halph stays in the middle of the room and I don't see how to kill the first two roach hordes. Is this room imposible now or I am missing something?

Again, I'm sure the new version is doable, since I've done it myself, but will get back to you in more detail once I've got home and checked the room myself.
Cheers for the comments. btw, Can anyone explain the behaviour in Revolutions entrance? It works, and it makes a pretty cool room, but why exactly? Secondly, I've added 3 more rooms to Revolutions. Now, I wouldn't want you all to have to play through the hold again for those 3 rooms (if you wanted to play them), so if you'd already got to revolutions, could you just restore to that point in the updated hold? Or would anyone like a hold file with just that level?

Yes, you're absolutely right. You've spotted the flaw in my logic and I'd like to retract that statement.

Anyway, sorry vAmpir. In testing the hold I'd moved Halph. He should just enter at the room entrance, 5 turns after you, as it was before. Sorry about that, thanks for pointing it out.
