I have been stuck on this room for a while now...

How can you not light the fuses? I can't see a way of doing it without lighting the fuses, but then I always run out of time if I do light the fuses...

This is my last room before completing this level. The post say it is easy but not for me. I would appreciate some help in the order of the mimics. I use the first three to blow up bombs that don't start the fuse When I get to the next I have to start one of the fuses with the fourth mimic otherwise it moves away when I set the 5th mimic etc.
What is the best sequence to use. Which mimic should go to which bomb? How do you move the later mimics without starting the fuse of the previous one first.

Any help would be appreciated. This must be much easier than I can see because there are very few suggestions. It make me feel quite stupid.

Thank you anyway. I persisted and found a way to complete the room and the level.

It really wasn't that difficult as stated above.

I cannot get the mimics to release when I move them to a spot. The only place they will release is next to the green gate on the west side and also at the southeast corner.

That's probably (not sure, could be corruption) because he was using DROD 3.2 to create the demo with.

Which means if you download the The City Beneath Demo, download the Journey to the Rooted Hold .hold file, install that, then export your progress in Journey to the Rooted hold to the City Beneath demo, you can see the demo.

Unfortunately, not many people are using DROD 2.0 (the engine you are using) anymore, so that might be your only option.

Thanks for your very prompt help. I've downloaded TCB and can't find the .hold file you mention. I'm usually good with computers but this has me beat. Is it possible that someone can help with a 2.0.15.1 demo even though it's old? Or perhaps someone could give me some directions about what I'm supposed to be doing in this room? You don't know how grateful I would be. I only discovered the game in May of this year and it's got a grip on me. Thank you, Liz

Go to change location, hit Ctrl-J, and scrolling down you should find a Journey to the Rooted Hold. Install that and then export your progress in JtRH from DROD 2.0 to DROD 3.2

Thank you again but when I change location the only hold listed is The City Beneath and Command–J (cos I'm on a Mac) doesn't bring up anything extra, I've tried pasting the DROD 2 file into the import field but no luck there either.

I'm getting closer! I've downloaded a new key, got Caravel connection, selected JtRH and moved into the program. However, I'm right at the beginning and have no option to choose Level 23. What happens next? You're a wonder! Thanks.

Start your copy of JtRH, select "Change Player", select your player, hit "Export" and save the .player file somewhere you'll find it again.

Then run the TCB demo, select "Change Player", import the .player file you just exported and make sure it's selected before you hit "Okay". This makes sure TCB recognizes you as the same player that you were in JtRH and not just as someone that happens to have the same name...

After that you might want to also re-import all the other holds you had in JtRH (you can select several at once by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking in the hold list) and re-import the same .player file if you also want to import your progress and demos for those other holds. (You can import the same .player file as often as you want and you'll get any progress for the installed holds added to what's there already...)

Please consider not deleting your help requests after you post them. By deleting them you confuse those who might have the same problem later.

I hope this thread's not considered too old to be worth the extra hint, but I find that the best way to keep the mimics in position until you're ready to set off the bombs near the fuses is...

It is not very good idea to bump old thread if nobody requested for help. As you may see, all help requests in this topic were answered.

My apologies for the necrophilia, especially given that mxvladi was the one who complained.

However, I want to offer kudos (and draw attention to)
mxvladi's incredible, elegant, orchestrated six-mimic dance
solution to this room.

Well worth a watch if you solved it by some pedestrian,
one at a time route.

For the challenge in this room, do the trapdoors simply have to be all dropped, or do they need to be all dropped and the room solved?

You need to solve the room and also be able to leave it. The challenge gets awarded when you stand on the open yellow door on the western room edge.

I believe Slayer of Slayers is the only JtRH challenge that doesn't require you to solve the room at the same time.
