×It is temptingly simple to just remove all the gel with 4 horizontal shots, but then the tar blob is irreducible (because it is even X even). As far as I can see the only possible shots that damage the tar blob that it ends up cuttable are ones that remove one of the edges (vertical or horizontal) or one of the corners.

I tried diagonal shots for the gel, but the best I could do left me with shapes that would be cuttable with the sword but not with the darts.

I can't switch back to the raygun once I've taken the darts, and tricky double dart shots that would change the enclosed corners of the tar blob are not possible.

×horizontally once, SW-NE diagonally once, and NW-SE diagonally twice.

×A shot through one corner, removing 1 black and 0 white, is tempting, but doesn't work for the gel. And a diagonal shot too far up will split off either a 2x2 piece or an uncuttable triangle.
