Heroine's Quest: Defeating Gulon in Bones Cave as Sorceress (0)

I'm a Sorceress and I want to complete the fighting challenge in the Bones Cave in Svartalfheim set by the Norns, but keep getting pulverised by the Gulon! Any tips? I'm not the greatest fighter but should have plenty of magical strength.

The gulon does have the highest magic resistance in the game... your staff may be more effective than your spells!
