This is closely related to the minimal items challenge, but min-items for the first half (with Rule 8) turns out to require a shield, and min-items for the second half doesn't permit killing the Slayer. So, this has become a separate challenge:

C h a l l e n g e !

Complete both halves of Tendry's Tale -- and kill the Secret Slayer, Slayer and Archivist -- without ever taking a shield.

For a bonus challenge: reach and kill the Rock Giant in the second half, taking no shield and no accessory. This is particularly difficult, because no accessory makes it impossible to reach the Hook, Wyrmsmiter or Really Big Sword

Normally yes, but in this case, I had used the invisibility and speed potions, to ensure he couldn't attack me first.
