Loki?

I've explored all of Svartalftaheim (sp?) as a Sorceress aside from the one square surrounded on all four sides by walls.

I need to get to him so I can complete the riddles sidequest, but I really don't know how. Does it have to do with the room that you sometimes encounter trying to enter the prison?

EDIT: Oh wait, I just remembered from another thread that it's an easter egg

Or does it have something to do with the device in the workshop?

In that case, how does a Sorceress get a dragon scale? She can't get any tools that I know of to do things with corpses, and the Svartalf smith won't let me into his shop until I have a dragon scale now.

I'm afraid you indeed need to use the puzzle device in Andvari's workshop (the one in the upper left corner), so you'll either need to load an earlier save, or obtain a dragon scale. I'm trying to get one myself as a sorceress, but I'm having trouble finding Lindwurms (the only one I've run into has murdered me because I was low on health, and didn't really know how to fight it). I don't know whether you can actually get a scale off it as a sorceress, but I figure that using the ice pick might work (or perhaps it just drops if you examine the corpse?).

Concerning Andvari's puzzle: you don't have to solve it perfectly (that was the first thing I tried to do, and it quickly drove me crazy). What you actually need to find Loki is to connect the picture of the Nidavellir gate and the picture of the ice wall. Basically, each tile of the puzzle corresponds to a screen of the north-eastern portion of the Svartalfheim map, and when you shuffle the tiles around, you rearrange the corridors of that region of Svartalfheim.
Before going to the ice wall, level up your Disrupt spell. A lot. I don't remember the actual needed level, but we're talking about breaking a very powerful Aesir enchantment here.

I can confirm that the ice pick DOES work with getting dragon scales. Did that just now.

One last question:

Is fighting Fafnir for the chest considered dishonorable? I really want my Warrior to be able to wield Balmung.

Oh yeah, I've got some more questions.

Is it possible to steal the Eye in the village? I can't break into the innkeeper's lodge at all, and trying to go in through the inn just makes the dog bark at me (and bribing him with meat doesn't work)

Also, I'm trying to steal the Eye in the city, but the chest keeps eating me, and the tool I stole from the elven smith won't work on the chest (It just says "The tool has no effect on the chest.")

Do I have to earn everyone's trust to earn the eyes?

EDIT:

Huh, I could've sworn I tried the harp... I guess the dog CAN be put to sleep.

I now have two Right Eyes of Thiassi.

Ooookay then.

If it helps, what I did was I was able to oil and pick the lock on the chest through the wall. I don't know if that sword was supposed to be there the first time you go in, but it was this time.

Now I don't know what to do. I can't enter the workshop anymore to use the device or ask the craftmaster about the riddles.

Nope. I always kill him (or throw the chest in the water and make him kill himself ) and I was able to get that sword.

Have you gotten the chest from Fafnir yet? If you do it by escaping from him (the blink spell is handy for this) and throwing the chest into the water, it'll wash up on the shore with some of his scales attached.

Not to say that other classes shouldn't bother going there, though. Sorceresses should talk to Loki for help with riddle answers, if they want the awesome lightning bolt spell. Warriors have no reason for getting past the ice wall, but do get points for discovering it.

I'm playing as a Sorceress and I'm having problems with the chest puzzle too. I managed to escape and teleport myself across the lake. Now I'm standing next to the water plants, "battle music" is still playing, but I can't see any chest or scale to pick up. Where do I find it? On which shore of the lake? Have I messed something up?

If you teleport away from Fafnir, why would the chest be in the lake? You're still carrying it, yes?

Find any lindworm and kill it. It doesn't have to be Fafnir.

If you come back in the next chapter, the monsters will be upgraded and lindwurms will start to show up
