As another cranky old, I'm keeping my eye on a mod for the original that's working on backporting the new gameplay improvements (it also adds a ton of difficult endgame content, for those into that kind of thing).

The mod update actually launched already (changes).

It doesn't have the scouting preview feature that I mentioned. I suppose this makes sense in hindsight. The old engine can only do so much.

The other changes are still neat, and Extreme fixes a gripe that I have with the official releases: quest completion order affects the rarity of items found in shops.
