Both versions do the same. The logo shows for a few seconds, then I see part of another screen and hear half a second of music, then it crashes.

Vista Home Premium, DirectX 10, latest Nvidia drivers, 4Gb memory, Intel quad core CPU.

Is there anything I can try to get it running?

Edit: Forgot to mention that when it crashes, my taskbar disappears.
error.txt says "normal exit" !

edit 2: Oops! I just realised I should have said which game. Duh. I am talking about SubTerra and SubTerra2

I'm not sure what to suggest aside from perhaps running it in compatibility mode for XP with Service Pack 2.

You've most definitely got the specs to run it, so I'm not sure why it's messing up...

It turned out to be a clash with Ultramon, a program which puts a task bar on my secondary monitor, amongst other things.

I played a few of the main levels and then tried Supaplex levels, but found the playing area doesn't scroll far enough to the left. Or maybe it's the boxes at the left that are in the way - what are they for? Not really a problem as I have Megaplex and New Supaplex.

One other thing I noticed while playing full screen and with both monitors on, it is possible to move the mouse pointer out of the game and click on the desktop on the secondary monitor. This minimises the game, but maximising again shows a white window and all I can do from there is close the game with task manager. Nothing that will stop me playing the game, though still niggling, and I have noticed this behaviour with other directx games played fullscreen.

In that case, I would say it's a DirectX problem.

Including the play area not scrolling left far enough?

DXdiag tells me directx has no problems, so I guess I am stuck with it. Oh well, no big deal, if one game doesn't work properly, I simply move on to one that does.

Did you mean to write that you have NOT encountered this problem with other games?
