This is the level design challenge for May. The idea behind this contest is as follows: Arena battle! There are several enemies in the template level, only one of which must survive the level. You may not place additional copies of these kinds of enemies*, although you may place other enemies and whatever else you like.

You can download the levels here: http://crystalshard.net/test/May.zip

Please vote for the level you like best. Participants may vote (because turnout would be a lot lower otherwise also it's not like we can stop them or anything); however, I'd appreciate it if everybody did not simply vote for themselves :)

Thanks to everyone who participated!

I voted Staying Alive, because I've been wanting to make a level like this for sooo long.

All three levels were amazing this month.
Well Done!

Actually, one complaint I hvae for my own level is that there isn't very much direction on what to do/where to go, so it might be a bit harder than it needs to be. :(

Edit: Also, I voted for CM's level.

Non-Linearity is usually a good thing.
It makes it harder, but more fun. ;)

Ah, but if it's too non-linear, or the object of the level* isn't well-defined, that can cause a level to be less good than it should be.

*: Yes, yes, on hard mode you have to get there in time, collect enough gems, and get to the hard exit, but I mean the actual process on how to do those in any given level.

It was hard to figure out how to do the levels, and I got impatient, so I watched the replays instead.

Anyway, both were pretty good. I voted for Stay'n Alive mainly because I liked it better.

For Mayhem, is it possible to get to the easy exit? I noticed that your method of acquiring the green key also blocks off that exit.

:yes

You just have to do the stuff with the cyrobird before you push the rocks onto the egg. That way, the key won't fall into the quicksand, and therefore, the rocks won't have to be pushed onto the exit to get the key.

I have to admit, both levels were really well done. Congrats to both Danjen and CM for making some really interesting puzzles. You didn't make the choice easy.

I ended up voting for Danjen's Mayhem. I really appreciated the intricacy, even though it was a little to nonlinear.

Keep up the good work, both of you. :)
