This is the level design challenge for April. The idea behind this contest is as follows: Early in the level, the player must have a choice of where to go (e.g. left or right). This choice must affect how he plays the rest of the level. Ideally, he'll end up at the same obstacles but deal with them in different ways.

You can download the levels here: http://crystalshard.net/test/April.zip

Please vote for the level you like best. Participants may vote (because turnout would be a lot lower otherwise also it's not like we can stop them or anything) however I'd appreciate it if everybody did not simply vote for themselves :)

Thanks to everyone who participated!

I voted Tetravex, because I loved the mini puzzles.
Except for the fact that I love the mini puzzle setups, like Razzle Dazzle and Cell Block, I would have gone Crossroads, as it makes the best use of the choice forcing layout.

What about your vote, Radiant.
Surely you are entitled to a vote?

I voted for Crossroads.

I didn't have enough time to play through all the levels, but from the replay, Crossroads looks like everything I was trying to do, but done right. :)

Even though 3-levels-in-1 was the only puzzle I could solve :blush , I had to vote for Tetravex. There were a couple of places in 3in1 that were just so Annoying :frusty that they somewhat drained the fun factor.

I can't quite decide between Stew Boy's level, or Danjen02's. Will report back (hopefully) in a day or two with my vote.

I kind of figured mine would be the easiest; I think it's the only entry where each solution doesn't take up the entire level. Here's my solution pack, which demonstrates this.

Just out of curiosity, what did you find annoying?

For the most part, I found your level to be pretty fun :) . I think the most frustrating place was the western room with the elevators in it. I think I died about 9 or 10 times while trying to do it (just on the left road), and the fact that there wasn't a save right afterwords that I could pick up didn't help.
I don't know if anyone else had problems with this or not. Maybe it was just me. :?

Yeah, elevators can be annoying; with a little patience and good timing, you'll be fine.

Anyway, I finally decided, and voted Stew Boy's level.

It's a tie. I think this is when Radiant would cast his vote.

I already did; I just didn't want to cast the first vote.

So I suppose it's officially a draw now. Congrats to both of the winners!

(but if somebody has an idea to get more voters here next month, it'd be appreciated)

Maybe in future you should use your vote as a tie-breaker....

I didn't vote that time, because I hadn't played through any of the other levels, they were too hard for me. (Yeah, figuring out puzzles isn't what I'm best at.)
