Yeah, but I'm (and I think the other people are) essentially arguing that a GMPC isn't needed in a game of Mafia, and also taking action by voting you out of the game.

Personally, I think that with all of these roles and hardly any normal Townies around the game is just complicated enough as it is. Also, I want to end the First Day by lynching someone.

Zed's right, this game is far from norm.

I too know stuff you may not (I bet we all do). The doc is not sane. He may save or he may kill, and this is at the merc of a coin flip; he may not choose. I'm not ev sure if he knows this hims; the role PM seems to imp he does not.

And I find it hard to get the words out with this strange speech rule I must foll. Yeeesh. I have to wait for some crit to be filled...

But let's lynch Zed. He is a threat to both the town and the gang; no one wins.

Anyway, yeah, a moderator/player just makes the game more complicated, not more fun. It even gives a slight advantage to the Mafia with the added complexity. I'll tentatively Vote: Z, but I will unvote you if you give us a list of your powers.

Also, a minor FoS: Chaco. He seems a bit too eager to lynch...

I have to take back when I said Dex could hide with me. I see now that that too is on the list of things that can make me lose my strength. I lose a skill we will want to have near the end of the game. My role is on the fringe; I have a great strength and lots of ways to lose it by the time that I can use it. But I can't tell you what it is.

It doesn't ruin the game. I took a good deal of time planning and getting this game reviewed on another forum, and I know of several games with a mod-player. I put some restrictions on myself: I can't comment on other players directly, It's very easy for me to lose my cover, I don't have a nightkill, I can only defend myself, not others, and all my powers do is screw around with votes. And, by the way, Sweet Oblivion was my power, and it's effect was to not end the day after a lynch, not kill the player lynched, and put the player who cast the lynching vote at five votes (the ones that lynched me). I took the precaution of not letting my self cast the final vote in a lynch, but it is now Day 1b, and no one is dead. Vote Count coming shortly.

You all are trigger happy! Going past the majority. You all grab zwetschenwasser, dragging him on the ground towards the lynching platform. However, just as you reach the stand, he mutters some unintelligible words. The skies rend in two, and a beam of pure darkness strikes stigant, the one who made clear the majority of anti-zwet players, while a beam of light strikes zwetschenwasser. Suddenly, the two switch! All the town who were trying so hard to get rid of zwet now turn with evil eyes towards stigant! Will he be able to convince them to not kill him in zwet's place? Ability Sweet Oblivion has resolved. It is now day 1b.

Well:
1. It DOES especially in light of the posts and the concerns in the previous game thread.
2. I was under the impression that in this game, we were all going to be aware of all the rules.
3. I can't think of any way in which the GM can also be a player and NOT be above suspicion for breaking or inventing rules on the fly
4. I can't think of any way in which the GM can also be a player and have the game be fair or interesting since he's the only one who is privy to all the interesting information.

I don't care. We have no way to verify that you're following those rules until after the fact. We have no way of even knowing what rules you're supposed to be following.

I think what irritates me most is that I've never even heard of this power, so I can't take action to avoid it. I also don't see why the players who are currently voting for me can't switch their votes back to you.

I don't really have anything to add other than my opinion that stigant summarized the argument very well, that I agree with him in totality (I've never heard of Sweet Oblivion in all the time I've played Mafia either), and that I'm unvoting Stigant and voting zwetschenwasser.

My vote got messed with. That's just not cool.

No, my PM didn't say anything about what I could type or say.
I usually try to spell names correctly, but I've inadvertantly screwed up the last few. In this case, everybody else is voting z-man or zed or whatever, so even coming close isn't going to change the meaning of the vote, and I just didn't feel like checking how to spell his name.

No now our mod lynch does not use up the day. Yay, I guess?
