So is the sorcerer the assassin? That doesn't make sense at all, especially since he isn't an option when the Queen asks you who the murderer is.... can anyone help me?

is the Sorcerer in league with the assassin, or does the Sorcerer simply take advantage of the situation?

Make a list of all people (with portraits) in the game, and cross out everybody who either lacks a motive, or has an alibi.

For instance, it wasn't Morholt, because he lacks a motive (and also, he's way too large to fit in the castle). Likewise, it wasn't Taliesin, because he was in the Theylann camp at the time (which the mercenaries will confirm).

There are two important clues here:
* The assassin leaves behind a piece of cloak. Who knows about cloaks?
* The assassin appears to be murdered with Branwyn's dagger. Who knows about daggers?

×Geraint (during my first playthough). He had that gruff exterior, and the extent he hate(d) Maledun was kind of suspicious. Plus he could have married the princess in a bid for power.

The hair is a red herring. Rhiannon has been in her father's bedroom to give him the scepter that you retrieved in chapter one. She's actually one of the few people with no motive.

I both love and hate red herrings. I like them because they add another depth of thinking to the game, but I dislike them, because you assume everything is important, and it can therefore throw you way off.

I never actually played it all the way through to the best ending, and I don't currently have it on my PC, but thinking about it recently, I think it's

for this reason I figured it was a red herring from the start, any other game and I might just thought it an inconsistency, but ATOTK is too perfect.

Ah, she has several other things going on, if you pay attention. Just not this thing. She does have a motive, kind of, but also has an alibi.

A couple weeks, actually Somebody wrote that guide, after all, and it wasn't us.
