Don't get pinned! You are close enough to the eastern aumtlich to make him turn so he is looking diagonally instead of horizontally. Then, careful stepping can get you through.

×Beethro has to step across the 22.5-degree line between its horizonal gaze preference and diagonal gaze preference. Here is a diagram showing how you can make it turn. (# represents pit.)
Here, the aumtlich is gazing west, at Beethro.

In this room, you not only need to turn the eastern aumtlich, you also need to turn Beethro's sword around. You will need to execute a number of similar maneuvers to accomplish both.
