I'm sure several of you have noticed that most Crystal Shard games are full of easter eggs! Post them here for other people to find and enjoy as well!

For instance,

A Tale of Two Kingdoms. Try to pick up the vase in Iseult's store.

In Leylines, there are several units for the Theria which resemble the Vahnatai from Avernum. Not sure if that's one, though.

Oh, and the Dwarven diving pod has the picture of the Seeker from ST1. Again, not sure if that's really an easter egg or just someone cheaping out on the graphics. :P

And almost everything else from Theria looks a lot like the slith, but it has been a while since I've played any Exile, even if it #2 is my favourite SpidWeb game.

If you dont count ST, 'cos the had a link for it once.
Is it still there?

Not exactly. Spiderweb used to be the publisher for SubTerra (they later decided to focus on their core business, i.e. RPGs), and one of the people at the forum who did Avernum fan art volunteered those for Leylines units.

The diving pod is an easter egg, though.

...yeah, goblin unit tribe in leylines looks like blades of exile's "Goblin" too...

Edit: No, the diving pod is a SEEKER from Subterra!
The monsters are invading!

SubTerra on Spiderweb's site; ah yes, I remember it well...

I noticed that a lot of character graphics in Leylines looked like custom graphics that were originally made for Blades of Exile. Glad to know I was right.

not theria, I was getting them mixed up :blush .

There isn't anything wrong with the artistry being almost the same as the Exile stuff, it's a compliment that you are even associated
with thier work.

it IS such a pity that their games are only shareware, but not everyone is happy just to have gratitude as a reward :?

I noticed in Leylines that one of the gods you can worship is called "Eryonix the Mystic." To be named for a god is one thing, but to have a god named for you...:D

Oh well, it's probably just an odd coincidence. I for one find it amusing.

if the divingpod is an easter-egg, then does the magic ranged-attack pic count? that is, if it is the same picture as the sub1 fire.
and theres the skull-thingys, they look like the skull-lines from sub1 too.
and then there is the sparkly-thingys from when you cast a spell like eagles-flight, they look like those things from sub1 aswell

Yep. You wouldn't beleaf the amount of puns that come up when you have to write a description for every single tree in the game ;)

That's probably because In St1 & 2 and LeyLines, you're constantly reminded about any oddities.

One of the screenshots in LeyLines uses a custom graphic that I drew for Blades of Exile a very long time ago. Does that count as an Easter Egg? It was for me, anyway. :P

In Leylines, with the difficulty settings, I made an interesting note: Except for "Stage magician", all the settings are part of the
Roke hierarchy.

when they first come they are an "Apprentice", a few years later they progress to "Sorcerer", which I almost a wizard but whithout the staff.
when they go to the Eminent Grove and earn their staff, they become
a "Wizard".

and then of course all the way at the top (and skipping the Masters ) there is the "Arch Mage".

is this just coincidence, or did you copy from "a Wizard of earthsea"?

Huh? What happened to the "Radiant!" difficulty? Was it removed or did you fail to see it? Just asking 'cause I saw it in the first version of Leylines. Yes, the one which thought Irnya was a flying militant slaver. ;)

Although I am a big fan of Ursula LeGuin, I must admit that this has not crossed my mind before. That means it is either coincidence or something done subconsciously.

It got hidden. Hold control and click on that button to find out.

When you click on the ship in the harbor (ch. 3) in ATOTK, It says you put it in your pocket. lol. I don't know if that counts, but it's hilarious. And when you click on the bushes outside the jeweler's house in ch 2, there's a direct reference to the game, although that seemed more like an homage than an easter egg.

Please no vulgar language.

Yes, quite a few people around here play SpidWeb games.

And may I point out that the original Vahnatai were from Exile(which in my opinion is better than Avernum), not Avernum.

Another "Easter Egg": The HypnoToad!

I believe it's from Futurama?

Yes, it is.

I should point out that the S'Sirthe look like Vahnatai, because one of the artists who did Vahnatai art for Blades of Exile was graceful enough to allow us to use her artwork for Leylines as well. And yes, I know Jeff Vogel and he's a cool guy!
