The idea for this forum is to allow new level builders to find new utilities and to post readily used utilities. It is a good idea for onlookers to try and test the level mechanincs and submit a reply on theyre ideas. Maybe they have somthing similar, or somthing you can improve. Or just give them a high five! you be the judge. :thumbsup or :yes or :thumbsdown on usefulness.

Please dont bash people. If the utility works and is simple and obvious, then it still works. This would be a :yes.

What is a level UTILITY?

Requirements:

1. an interaction between 2 or more level objects which cause a unique reaction. (the lifesaver and water is a viable level mechanic) However you could use those objects in a new UTILITY.

2. The reaction must have a causal relationship with the level or main charector. (An example of a game mechanic is the one i have for download called "automatic laser maze").

3. It must have an exit with answer, short and sweet, to the point. No impossible utilities.


Thats it!! Hopefully this becomes an archive for Subterra level mechanics/utilities so new people can referance them to make new levels. this way we can exploit the usefulness of all objects available in Subterra 1 or 2.

There's a rather long list of mechanics in-game under the help function, and I believe I have a shorter list somewhere around here with rarely-used mechanics...

For instance, balloons are underused, except as obstacles. They can also be used to push items upward.

Cute. Here's one I made that does the job automatically (though it's just the utility) that you can insert into a level.

EDIT: Your "Bombs Away" level: :thumbsdown I've seen such things before. Also, your "Transmute maze" looks like it might be a rather nice level as is; just give it a red exit and a higher gem quota.

I found your mechanics list at this thread. And you're right, it's a shorter list, but I don't think by much.

Youve got it mystic!! thats the stuff i want to archive!! sure...we know what the level pieces do, but what about the unique interactions we never think of? Which could make a REALLY COOL level. :thumbsup

After looking at the automatic flip mechanic, i said could this work else where. AND IT DOES!! this is awesome and could be applied in a zillion different ways! Check it out! :cool
