If a smaller version of the comic is requested, it will be made.
Good thing that the comic was made as an SVG, and exported as PNG.

I don't want to be rude, but it's not that nice, it's a punch in the eyes. Also, it's commonly called a filter rape.

I honestly quite like it, and I've seen this exact same image immediately after getting punched in the eyes! (Perhaps that's what vittro had meant by his comment?) ;)

PS My avatar is really a scan of my actual eyeball after it got punched out.

PPS Filter Rape will be the name of my new punk rock band, so thanks for the idea. :rolleyes

I think what vittro said was intended to be more of an opinion than a true fact. If he'd have said "I think that it's not that nice..." it wouldn't have sounded so bad. Besides; it seems the majority of other people liked it (including myself ;))

What?! Punch in the eyes? Well, I wouldn't post it here if this would REALLY be "punch in the eyes". When I work in photoshop, I actually know what I'm doing. I don't set the light to maximum so it would be really punch in the eyes. I didn't set the light to maximum... And, well, rman said that he likes the art in ICQ.

I don't know. Tell me what's exactly wrong, and I'll note it when I'll make next such thing in Photoshop.

Keep trying. The main problem is that it doesn't look good. I'd rather use any Vista default background than this, look :

I don't know what's good in that, it's just a cloud filter with some other stuff. A nice background shouldn't be filter-created like that. A nice background should be simple and effective, here are some examples :

At least, you're improving. The first things you posted were simple gradients. I suggest to google some tutorials to get you started with Photoshop.

As some of you already know, I'm currently taking courses towards an Associate's degree in graphic design, and I'm about to preregister for some Photoshop and Illustrator classes (for next spring). I have no doubt that I'll thoroughly enjoy whipping up some cool desktops...eventually.:rolleyes
Anyway, following tutorials is an excellent suggestion for anyone wishing to make attractive desktop wallpapers. :)
Here is a link to a cool site where the talented digital artist (who is Russian, by the way) provides tutorials:

And here is an example of some of his work:

That's much better :D

I suggest to make it even better by putting "DROD" in a smaller size on a corner, and add some kind of swirls or auroras that you see in Vista backgrounds. I also made a winter related wallpaper. Here's a compressed-preview and below it there's download link for the 1900x1200 one.

Better, I like it. You should always make widescreen versions of you backgrounds, however, and make the text blend in with the background. Keep trying :)

In case you don't get the scale (which is most likely my fault), this object is somewhat smaller than a football. I made it from six A4 sheets of paper during school hours.

And now for something completely different. Here's a piece of typography I finished recently: an ambigram of the name of our beloved game.
For who doesn't know what an ambigram is, read the wikipedia article, or just take a look at my avatar.

I would like to chime in here and say that the first point isn't necessary, and the second point... what? "Make the text blend in with the background"? No, one should make the text complement the background, so that it is visible while not being ugly.

I didn't mean that, I meant to make it with a colour scheme that looks nice with the background, or with a font that isn't completely strange for the background.

For example, on a brick wall, I would never use a comic-like font, but instead something like a "worn out" font, something that looks old and rusty.
