Hello all, i've just finished my first hold, and i'd like some opinions about it and what i should change before putting it on the holds board.
Please tell me what you liked and didn't like, your favorite room and your least favorite room, bugs/unintended solutions/spelling errors and what rating you'd give the hold if it was on the holds board right now.

Floor 1: (fun: 3/10) [difficulty 1/10]
2S: End on room exit command would be nice...
1S3E: Is really boring, and there are seeps that come out of nowhere.
3E: The speaker is a citizen 1, but it is a goblin speaking.

Floor 2: (4/10) [2/10]
Entrance: You can skip the room, try adding a green door.
1S: It is possible to skip the timer-go south, and then re-enter. Add a green door at the southern exit, and this should be fixed.
3S: The secret path doesn't lead anywhere (as far as I can tell)

Floor 3: (3/10) [3/10]
1W: The western path leads nowhere.
1N: Exellent room! This has too be my favorite so far.
1E: Need some checkpoints!

So right now you're looking at a 3.5 rating hold with 2 brains of difficulty. But I am enjoying it so far. :)

I'll play some more later. Also, could you make it anyone edit, so other players may benefit from it? :)

A few more comments I forgot to type:

Floor 1:
2E: You can kill all the roaches with out the gates.

Roach Master's Chamber:
1S: The secret walls don't lead anywhere... I'm sure this time. :)
and I can't get past the slayer... so I restored to Floor 2 and found the following bug:

Floor 2:
1S: There's a secret wall behind the orb you can't get to.

And I played Floor 3 again, and I didn't notice anything else. I'll play Floor 4 tomorrow. And it looks like you've fixed the bugs fine.

the secret wall in roach masters chamber 1S isn't supposed to go anywhere, i'm just evil :devil did you really think i'd make an actual secret that obvious?
and the secret wall behind the orb in floor 2: 1S is accesible, just not from that room :)

Finished Floor 3... but the stairs ended the hold...

I liked the last room a lot, too. But you do know that you didn't have to kill all the golems to access the stairs... (and it probably needs a checkpoint or two...)

I'll be looking forward to the new version!

Edit:

Floor 2 2S1W: The western path leads nowhere...
And is Floor 2 1W possible? Becuase you can't light the fuse to blow up the mother.

Floor 4: (fun=6) [difficulty=4.5]

Entrance: Pretty cool design you've got there.
1E: Pretty good room.
1S1E: You can't get to the southwest passage (there is a orthosquare there) or is this one of your 'tricks'?
2S1E: Pretty fun room. Needs some checkpoints...
3S1E: Really easy!

I can't seem to solve 1W... I don't really like the concept of the room either... :closedeyes

And if there are any other major bugs, I would suggest that you make it anyone-edit, please.

Yeah, I wondered that too. I believe he said that he made some new levels. But I haven't seen anything new... yet. (I'm on Floor 4).

Sorry about not renweing the old thread, i had forgotten about it O:-

Anwways, i've changed level 4 1W, i went through a bunch of diff. designs but i decided to stick with the original. And for 1S3E in lvl 1, the hack and slash one with the apering seeps, i took out the seeps and roaches for now and am creating a new puzzle in the room, which is going to be very hard to coordinate

Sorry I haven't played much of this anymore. I finally beat that one room. (F4 1W, the new room). And I went on to beat the hold. But I skipped Dungeon 1N1W 4 slayers?!?!?!, and then played in the editor. (I would love to see a demo on how to beat that room. Then the stairs ended the hold in Dungeon 1N (The big ones), so I assum that's the end.

So I guess it is possible, so I would suggest that you get some other testers to see what their opinion is. (Or make a beta-board).

seeing as slayers don't count as monsters, you don't really have to kill all of em (it's more of a story room). And those stairs shuldn't end the hold, i'll change that, keeps happening :blowup

That's what I thought. So I played through the rooms and went to the towers (but they are impossible, you can't kill the wraithwings).

The Dungeon Entrance was pretty enjoyable, and the rest of the level was good, too. A little hack and slash, but not too much. Overall, a pretty enjoyable level! :)

So, I assum that the hold is pretty much done, unless you want a beta board, (where forumers will do much harder testing). That is what I would recomend.

unfortunately, since i don't have caravel net, i can't make a beta board, but i will PM a few people asking them to test it, and about the towers, ya i know, they're just for decoration. Also i am going to replace that one hack 'n slash room in lv 1, but as i said earlier, it's going to take a bit of coordinating.

Not a bad hold. I'm not a fan of golem and wubba hordes, but F3 wasn't too painful, actually. Some nice rooms later on. The difficulty maybe varies a bit much. From F1 to F4:1W is a big leap.

The stairs in RMC:Ent and TD:1N end the hold.

I didn't find any real backtracking problems. There are a couple of places you could get yourself stuck if you wanted to, but it involves clearing a room, stabbing some tar/mud, and exiting, so I guess you'd be asking for it.

Checkpoints: TD:Ent badly needs a checkpoint around the top left area. F4:1W really needs two or three. Many other rooms in TD and F4 could also use some checkpoints.

Scripting:
-The speech in F1:2E doesn't show up. Add "wait 0 turns" at the start. Also, the character roach reappears if you re-enter the room. Try using an ordinary roach, with a separate character doing the speech, so you can use "wait for clean room | end".
-F4:1N1W: I think you should put the "end on room exit" before the "disappear". The other NPC needs an "end".
-GKTR:Ent: The script repeats if you kill the goblin king and re-enter.
-There are some other scripts that repeat. Don't know if you really want them to.

Typos: There are lots. Rather than point them all out, I suggest you go through all the text and check.

One other thing: The arrow in the entrance of TD:1S is annoying. Rather use a trapdoor or a black door (if you must force clearing the tar and mud).

I cleared the roach master's chamber. Yay. I can't believe I managed to kill the slayer. But all it takes is finding some place where you can get him and you to be like this:

Then push him up against that wall! The process of getting him into that position is a little more complicated than that though.
