This is a hold created when I got bored of creating KPVIIID3. Beethro is on the High Path, and he's getting tired. But his luck may have finally changed, as he has approached a new complex which Jobus from the Perfectionist Compound didn't inform him about. What will he find?

By thew way, I know perfectly well that this hold is very short.

Nothing wrong with a hold being short. And I wouldn't call any hold with 58 rooms "very short", even if all the rooms were completely empty (which they aren't in this hold)

As one of the guys who played through this hold, I can testify that it's very good. It has Deep Spaces spoilers, however, so be careful if you want to avoid that sort of thing.

He uses three custom images in The Strange Complex: 1E, the Entrance, and 1W that are from Deep Spaces, so even if you're using the Foundation tileset that comes with the demo version you can still see Deep Spaces features.

Are you sure this is true of the latest version?

The reason I'm asking is because:

A - That is copyrighted material and shouldn't be in a hold.
B - The hold admins have tools that allow us to see all the custom images in a hold to see if such violations occured, and I certainly didn't see such images.

So if this is true of the current version, that means that there's a bug in the hold admin tools and that this hold shouldn't have been allowed to appear here. I hope neither is the case.

Hmm, I know the beta version had that, but maybe those were intercepted before it was released?

I'll give this a playthrough and see if this is still the case. Guess I still haven't learned not to assume anything...

EDIT:

Yep, I'm wrong, Eytanz is right. Those were removed.

Grrr... Slayer kill room encountered. Guess it's time to switch holds...

I shan't be voting as I know certain players enjoy this type of scenario, but I just haven't got time for this kind of "puzzle".

Is that Basement: 2N? Because I can't tell what it is exactly that's supposed to get the guards to open the doors. (Go ahead, ask me what I think of unpredictable scripting.)

If you know the "trick" to it, it isn't that hard. Post in hints board and I'll help you out if you want.

Yes, Basement: 2N requires a slayer kill to get by. Maybe an update to make one of the guards say something as you enter the room would be helpful.

Steve.

Commentary:

This hold had some pretty good puzzles and soem that I didn't much care for. Difficulty was fairly consistent and on the high side of average.

Liked it. Didn't love it. Pilchard's King Pilchard holds were considerably better, IMO. I gave this hold a 6 and 6 brains.

Josh

Yeah, I know the trick but I seriously don't enjoy slayer killing rooms. Anyways, I have just gone back and done the room as I believe this is the only such room in the hold. Looks like I will be voting after all :)

Mastered. But, holds page shows five levels, but I have only reached three. Are the other two reachable?

Really good hold. With only a couple of problems...

I definately prefer short holds to those which take days to work through.

I'm going to give it 8 and 7 brains.

Keep up the good work Pilchard.

Played through a little bit of this when it was in public beta. It was actually very good, and Richard gets my praise for this hold. What I really want to see is all of his old projects puzzles combined into a hold. That would be great.

Keep posting,

EDIT: Also, I see that the holds board topic count is still 205.

As one of the public and final beta tester, I must say that these here are perfectly crafted puzzels, in a constant difficulty. I gave it ,7 brains of difficulty and 8 overall.

Valid point. I'll make a note of it, but I'll have to re-claim all of my old puzzles, which, regretably, are a little pants.

.1 one more, and a couple more votes, and you may be able to do a SS!

KPVIIID1 and KPVIIID2 did have an 8.0 after one month of being on the holds board, and the last time I looked, technically that was all I needed to create an SmS. This was originally going to be submitted as a SmS as a matter of fact, and was going to be called Slayer Tales, but when my computer crashed, I lost it.

No hold that features a slayer would be accepted as an SmS, unless Erik decides to do another non-cannon edition.

Yeah, but if I were to create an off-canon hold, could I possibly submit it to be selected as a SmS?

Well, you can always try, but in my experience, both Erik and the general public prefer canonical releases.

A hold with just a few non-canon compatible rooms would just be asked to remove them, but a hold with a non-canonical theme has a seriously lower chance of being accepted.

Not a bad little hold, mainly based around slayer rooms, has a decent story as well. Let down by a couple of rooms with scripting where it's not explicitly clear what you're supposed to do. I didn't think there was anything outstanding here but then there was nothing too bad either.

Difficulty: 6.5
Fun: 7
