Played several rounds in the trial game, including finishing level 3 in JtRH itself. Before uninstalling the old and installing the full version, I followed the suggestion to export the player data.

I did so, reimported the player file when JtRH installation was complete, and - lo! - all holds show as just started. All rooms formerly completed have vanished and I gotta start over.

Assuming this behavior of the player file process is not as designed, what am I doing wrong? If it is as designed, why bother?

It is intended that you should be able to transfer your progress, of course.

Did JtRH show as just started too? Did you import all the other holds first? You need to import the hold before you import the player file in order for your progress to be transferred over. You can always import the player file again over the first one after you import the holds once more.

Also, when you import a new version of a hold/new player, the Continue option will be greyed out. You can still access all your progress from the Restore screen though.

Thanks. Re-did the whole import process, and about half the holds I imported showed the correct progress . . . better than the first zero percent, anyway.
