Is there no (easy) way to check if previous highscores are still valid when a hold gets updated? I find it mildly anoying that all highscore points for a hold suddenly goes away when it gets updated.

The High Score Spider verifies them - once they have been reverified, they will reappear. It shouldn't take too long.
