Rainbow doors are exactly the same as yellow doors except that they are a different color to enable denser packing of seperate doors.

I could see what puzzle creators would gain from this, but I also see the problem of the orb (how would they be differentiated?) You can't have a yellow orb effecting rainbow doors, so you would have to have a new orb. This also doesn't create too many new puzzle abilities, just to pack in doors. So I voted "other".

Rainbow doors could be affected by the same orbs -- that's easy enough to code up, in fact. But taking the time to draw up more door graphics, write more code, and with the side-effect of complicating the things the player needs to learn just to put doors next to each other doesn't seem worth it to me.

The attached hold requires alternate color yellow doors to be nontrivial.

I got a "corrupted file" message when I tried to import your hold levelthirteen.

Here is a PNG screenshot from the level editor. Can't get the .hold file to run easily.

I think this problem can be solved by a much simpler change - just make diagonally adjacent doors be seperate doors. In fact, I can't see what this would lose - if you want to get the current behavior, you could do so by linking each door segment to the same orb.

Note the shape of the door around one.

Nothing will be broken if these are defined as 12 seperate doors that act in unison rather than a single door. Players will have a slighlty more annoying lightning storm, but that's it.

More lightning, but same effect.

It would be even more flexible if the diagonal door linkage were allowed/disallowed on a per room basis.

I really can't see why that would be any better, and it would just make everything a lot more confusing for the hold designers.

The behaviour should be consistent.. Making the doors behave differently in different rooms isn't consistent.

Anyway, the doors themselves doesn't have to be differently-colored for this to be possible. Adding an unique outline to all door tiles that are part of the same door would make it easy to see which is which. I doubt that will happen for 1.6, tho..
