I don't remember if this was discussed or not, but:

1 - Download a hold (say, King Tim's Dungeon), import it, and play it a bit.
2 - Wait until the hold designer makes some repairs to his hold, and download it again.
3 - Delete the old version of the hold.
4 - Import the new version of the hold.
5 - Press "continue".

Game crashes.

Just my two cents...perhaps deleting a hold does not delete the player information for all players for that particular hold, so when the game restarts with the player there is unexpected info? Just a wild stab at a mistake I know I would make if I were a programmer on the project.

PS: One other potential bug I can see is importing a player who has information for outdated holds. Maybe holds can carry a unique time stamp, and if the hold time stamps don't match, the data for that hold is nuked for that player.

Good observations and good thinking. I'm trying out some new stuff for this very thing in build 28. When a newer version of an existing hold is imported (you should be able to do this without having to delete the old version -- it should know how to handle this), it will nuke most of your player saves since it's virtually impossible to tell which ones are still valid after a hold's been arbitrarily changed.

But the good news is that (drumroll) it will retain saved games at the start of the all levels you've been to, as well as your editing privileges for the hold! This is the best we could come up with, both in terms of robustness and convenience for the player.

There are several tricky combinations of this, like importing a player that has saved games for a different version of a hold than the one you currently have, etc. In this case, it will do basically the same thing: import saved games at the start of each level you've been to in the hold.

Hmmm... that explains why I had trouble with Sam's hold. Ignore that post then. :D

But the same think happened with Oneiromancer's hold which was the first version. Perhaps DROD can't handle above a certain number of holds? Hopefullt not but can't see any other possible reason as all the other holds imported and played fine in this installation.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'same thing', as we're talking about bugs when upgrading a hold here.
Perhaps DROD can't handle above a certain number of holds?
Luckily, DROD should be able to handle an arbitrary number of holds.
