If I click to reply to a thread and I'm not logged in after I do log in I get an "Error: no message selected".

I can't reproduce this. I can't even find that string anywhere in the forum code. I'm confused.

That may not have been the *exact* message - it was words to that effect.
I dunno - it's not happening any more.

Now it is!
The message is "Nothing specified!"
and it happens if I try to create a new Hints/Solutions thread when I'm not logged in.

How come I don't get logged in to the forum automatically any more?

(That's how I found the first problem - which is still there BTW)

I've changed the URL I'm using and I *still* don't get logged in automatically any more.
Any other thoughts?

It's almost certainly a problem with cookies. Your browser or internet protection software (i.e. ZoneAlarm) may disable cookies entirely or for certain domains. If you've got cookies disabled entirely, then turn them on (at least for testing purposes). If you've got per-domain cookie settings, then enable "forum.caravelgames.com", and to preemptively avoid any other problems, enable "caravelgames.com", "drod.caravelgames.com", and "drod.net".

Also most spyware removal software, in an effort to make you think it is doing a tremendous amount of work keeping you safe, deletes all of your cookies by default. So be on the watch for that too.

I too have the prob and it's not cookie related. Anything else worth trying, or info you can use to track this down, just tell me. Not a major prob, but a little annoying when I forget.

Mouse, you have "Save username and password" set to "No" in your profile. Change that to "yes" and you should be good.

Chopper... yours is set to "yes". Is that the problem you're having? That it won't log you in automatically? If so, are you using http://forum.caravelgames.com ?

That's odd... I checked the database again and it was definitely set to "no" - I don't know why it's showing you "yes" in your profile. Regardless, I changed it to "yes" in the database. Let me know if it makes any difference.

Nope. Been using http://www.drod.net/forum/viewboard.php?BoardID=1 since I joined.

The forum moved recently to forum.caravelgames.com. drod.net/forum just redirects you here...but it might play havoc with login. Reset your bookmarks and see if the problem still occurs.
