I got a new DVD drive for my computer. I want to be able to play DVD movies with it, but I need to get a program that will play DVD movies. My drive didn't come with anything like that.
Does anyone know of a good (freeware) DVD playing sofware. I found one, but it ended up showing me an agreement that if I install it, I will have to allow them to put up popups on my computer when I am on the internet... I hate that crap.

Any ideas?

VLC Media perhaps? It is free, works on several OS, and can read many various files without any codec, and should be able to read DVDs, though I've never tried it.

When I first saw this thread, I thought it said "Freeway DVD Playing Software". And I thought..."those DVD players in cars...I would think they came with their own playing programs. But, I guess if you rig something up...?"

So. Never mind me. :)

Game on,

After the IE debacle, Microsoft decided not to implement a DVD codec, but instead leave it up to third parties. Most computers come with one, but some, well, don't.

It really sucks when it doesn't.
