I've entered from the N, and from the W, thru two different tunnels, but can't get farther than one tunnel hop into the room before I'm stuck...can't take a step... Is there another entrance? I'm having terrible trouble finding way to the 5S rooms and this room I've found but can't get in...still dummer 'n dirt, can somebody help?

The entrance should be from North, as the West entrance is blocked away by a green gate (you may leave from there, however).

Tunnels can be used by hitting the keypad key corresponding to their destination (South for a tunnel going southwards), if memory serves. I know I often use the wrong key though, so perhaps it is your problem?

Other than that, you should be able to make your way to the centre room (the one with the checkpoint) by using those tunnels and orbs; once you are in the middle, you can reach the other islands and travel between them.
