Hi. Now the FreeBSD version is done (waiting for an OK before an annoucement) I'd like to start getting the changes integreated into CVS.

Obviously, everything is covered by #ifdef's so shouldn't create any hassle for anyone, but I want to add ifdefs for FreeBSD -- mainly these go wherever a Linux ifdef is, but there are some differences..

So, these will effect lots of files, as I change (e.g.)

#if defined(__linux__) || defined(__APPLE__)

to

#if defined(__linux__) || defined(__APPLE__) || defined(__FreeBSD__)

I did discuss this a while ago with Mike, but I'd like his final say so before going ahead, and also would like to know if anyone else has any objections, or comments, or ideas etc!
