I can't figure out how to get past the first 'subroom' with the eyes and the roaches. Any hints on this?
I just get killed after a couple of moves after hitting the orb.

Apologies if this is obvious, but you clearly want as few monsters as possible after you once you hit the orb. How can you minimize that number?
