So, we've got public domain versions of the tiles for the monsters, objects and styles, but one thing was missing so far - the faces. Sure, there's a faces.png file in your bitmaps directory, but it's not public domain so you can't mod it unless you replace all of it.

So, I've made a set of public domain faces for all the characters. Feel free to use this file as a basis for mods, and if you want to keep any of these faces in (for example, if you're not using speaking goblins in your hold and don't care what they look like), feel free to do so to.

I don't think my art quite measures up to Erik's standards, but well, you can't have it all.
