This is the intended solution, but it's interesting to see all the other approaches to solving the room. I've solved it one other way that hasn't been mentioned yet.

I can't seem to get this. What do you mean exactly? The snake won't go in the corner, there's force arrows in the way.

I can't figure out kill the snake when I come from the south entrance either.

I must be missing something, since when I try this, I seem to be two steps late.

I have a problem here. I have completed the room, and it turns green on my minimap. I leave, and get the "Exit Level" sign; but this room then turns red again. No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to recoord my victory. I'v completed the room several times, and I have my demo, which puts me in equal first place with dozens of others; but I can't progress. Is this a bug, or have I missed something?

That certainly shouldn't be happening, and it sounds like a bug. Do you mean that the blue door won't drop? If it has but the map just turns red again then it's not such a major issue as it won't stop you completing the game, although it should still be fixed of course... But I've not heard of it happening to anyone else, so it might be a corruption of data somewhere in your installation. Are you using 2.0.12?

The blue door drops and I can continue. But then my map shows I haven't found the hidden room and it remains red. I've already completed JtRH, and now I'm trying to find all the secret rooms so I can visit the Dreamplane; will this stop me? My score shows up in the High Scores on Caravel Net, and I can see my demo and download others when I visit the level. It seems that this is not being recorded properly on my computer.

Yes, I am using 2.0.12.

Is this what you're doing:

1. Beat the room and leave (minimap shows green and then white) and then leave the level.
2. Go to the restore screen and restore to the place where the other blue door is. The door is still up and the 1S1W is marked red?

If so, that's the correct behavior. You restored to a point in time at which you had not completed 1S1W, so it is still marked red. You need to find another way to get back to the room with the blue door.

I don't understand what you mean, Stigant. This isn't how it happens on other levels; I can go back, clear the secret room, and not lose my status. Anyway, I don't think there is another way to the blue door.

What happens is that I clear the room, and it turns green on the map. I go off to 1 South, see the "Exit Level" notice, the blue door is open, 1 South 1 West appears white on the map, and if I go back west the room is still clear. But if, from that point, I go to Restore, it still shows 1S1W in red. Because on the other levels, you can get to the secret room when other rooms on the level are red (ie they are not hidden behind blue doors) On level 15 you cannot even get TO the secret room unless the blue door is dropped.

I don't think there is another way to the blue door.

There is another way to get back to that room after you have conquered all the other rooms on 15.

I go to Restore, it still shows 1S1W in red. In fact, if I return to 1S1W and try to restore from there, the room is still shown as uncleared and I am returned to the room start, although it is clear when I enter, and the blue door is open. That surely can't be the intended behaviour?

Again, when you are in the restore screen, you are looking at a position in which you had not cleared 1S1W. Unless you hit a checkpoint or enter a new (non monster room) at sometime after clearing the last room on a level, there is no way to restore to a point after clearing the room. This is the intended behavior. Try this: find a checkpoint after clearing 1S1W. Then go to the restore screen and restore click on that checkpoint (whatever room it is in). 1S1W will be white on the restore screen.

OK, I've solved the problem. Somehow, I had managed to turn off the checkpoints; I've no idea how I managed to do this. So I was getting frustrated rushing round clearing rooms, and then not being able to record that I'd done so. It's all sorted now -- so long as I can actually clear the rooms!

Um...if you are playing level 15 of JtRH then you either have a pirated copy or you have the full version of JtRH with a trial version of CaravelNet. Hopefully you legitimately bought JtRH and you just didn't activate your trial CaravelNet. There is a FAQ here.

I have a problem. I can enter from the south entrance and kill the 3 roaches as the snake tail goes by. I can even kill the 5 roaches to the north behind the wall. I can even get around the snake to the west side and down on the down force arrow by the last roach. But no matter what I do then the snake can not be killed. I guess I don't understand the hints here and how to proceed. Is what I have done so far sufficient to win this hold?

My graphic shows one position I ended up in. I hope that helps.

×get yhe snake to move a couple of steps towards you and then bend of. Thus when the roach gets loose it gets caught in a bend of the snakes body, and with right timing you will have time to get to stand eye to eye with it before the snakepart goes away. Then all you have to do is to go down to the forcearrow and wait.

Question: assuming that the snake goes away when would it be necessary to return to the force arrow to kill the last roach? Where did the roach that ends up in the bend of the snake come from?

I have no idea how to get the last roach, or any roach, in a bend of the snake

Err, the other way around you meant? You don't trap anything with the roach anyways.

Either be a bit more limber (who needs to swing?) or just read Doom's hint... his is more than enough, usually.
