For some odd and bizarre reason, the sound of a destroyed wall ingame sounds like a popcorn kernel exploding, and I have no idea why. A reinstall from the CD version does not fix it, a change of player doesn't, and it plays perfectly fine in XMMS (The WinAmp equivalent). The rest of the speech and other sounds play perfectly fine, but it just seems to be LowShatter.ogg that causes the problem.

Is there any logical explination? I'll try to record it if'n I get the chance.

Hm, you're right. I always thought it was supposed to sound like that, but now that I've listened to the ogg I can hear that it's not. Seems to be a bug in SDL_mixer -- LowShatter.ogg has a frequency of 12000, which is pretty nonstandard, so that might be it. I'll look into it.

Hmm. That's kind of odd. It plays correctly for me on Gentoo in game. (At least, it plays the same in game as it does using mplayer, and neither sound like popcorn.)

That's odd. I wouldn't say it sounds like popcorn here either, but it does sound like it plays at double speed.

Are you using the SDL_mixer that came with the 2.0 install, or some other version ? (Hm, come to think of it, are you using SDL_mixer at all, or did you build a version that's using FMOD ? :))

I think I hacked it to use fmod instead of sdl_mixer. I got some compiler errors when it was switched to sdl_mixer and didn't feel like hunting down dependencies so I switched it back.
