I was just thinking...

Wouldn't it be (cool/cruel) if level 13 was completely covered in Living Tar?

Heh :)

I wonder if it would be solvable - tar mazes can be unsolvable if it's impossible to avoid creating a 2x2 path.

Does whoever completes Dugan's Dungeon in 1.6 get editing rights to it? If so, someone could just copy all of level 13 and cover it in tar :)

Well I for one am not going to try.

Levels 11 and 13 were among my least favourites. A cross between the two would be nothing short of torture.

Well, obviously it's a really monstrous idea that should never see the light of day.

That's why it's so appealing :devil

A new maze level covered in tar would probably be much, much harder then just covering level 13 with tar because many of us still have a map of L 13 and can open multiple instances of DROD at the same time.

Erik, is there a maximum number of rooms per level? :devil :devil

I created a level with 100 rooms (2 rows of 50) trying to see if I can get the editor to conk up. I would have done more, but I got bored.

No, there is no maximum. So things can get definitely get crazy.

Maze + tar = RUN AWAY!

eew... Even with being able to have the tar transparent, like in the editor, to see the walls underneath it, it would STILL be a pain!

If you're daring enough...try this.

Notes:

1. I have tried to make all rooms stay solvable, and the level completable. If it isn't, then tell me what the problem is, and I'll edit it.

2. I have tried to avoid unpleasant combinations, or undesirable ones, so I have tried to keep tar off orbs, force arrows, potions and the exit.

3. This is really hard :devil (I haven't attempted much, but...:D)

4. Good luck!

Do not use this file! It is unplayable. Instead, use the one below.

Does anyone really want a 100 room maze covered in tar to be made?

I could (though it'll take a long while) organise it for you...

Ok...

Is this supposed to be playable, agaricus? Because Beethro is starting on top of tar and so he can't cut any of it from around him and can't move anywhere.

This shows me that I need to do a couple of things:

- Make it so the owner of an attached file can delete it too (not just the moderators)
- Make it so you can add a file with "Edit Post" maybe.

I'll put these on my list of things to do - for now I'll just delete your old one.

Erm... is the file corrupted? Because now DROD crashes every time I click Continue...

Unless it's just my import problem rearing its ugly head again.

Wow...not only did I hate the tar mazes on level 11, but I hated the real maze on level 13 even more. To combine the two would just be...I don't wanna even think about it.

However, I'm sure there are those of you out there who'll do it anyway. All I can say is good luck, and try not to get too frustrated ;)

As long as they're in user-made dungeons, and we don't feel "required" to solve them and get our names on a world class website...

The tar level is quite buggy. I was messing around with it and when you move from 1 room to the next bad things happen.

First yout sword is pointing into tar. I swung it one way and nothing happened. No tar was killed. Swung it once more and tar was killed. Seems the sword can't start breaking the tar except on the edge. However this is were problems really occur. If I stand in that place and keep swinging I will get a tar baby that appears on Beethro.

I think that the edges of the rooms need a 1 square space to enter in.

Yeah, but now that your name is on the website, aren't you happy you mucked through all those required rooms to beat the game?

Oh, I was being quite tongue-in-cheek, have no fear. I guess I should have added the appropriate smiley.

I was trying to make you feel better, actually, since you hate both mazes and tar-covered levels, by suggesting that this kind of level not be in an "official" dungeon and only be in a player-made one.

Don't worry, I understood you quite well. And I was being tongue-in-cheek as well :D

I do agree that these sorts of rooms don't belong in any official holds. In fact, I don't think any mazes at all belong in official holds.
