Journey to Rooted Hold : Twenty-Third Level : 1 North, 3 West (0)

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to clear out the top block. Middle and lower right are easy. But the real trick is eliminating the queens AND the roaches.

Yeah, that's obvious. But that doesn't help me. Where should I put the mimic in order to kill the 4 roaches and the queen?

Hello again.

It's been almost a year since I've posted here last, but I finally have enough courage to make another attempt to complete JtRH.

At the moment, this is the only room left, and as you can guess, it's the top chamber that's troubling me.

In theory, I know what must be done, but I just can't get it to work.

Can anyone give any further help beyond what has already been posted here?

You only really need the top queen to spawn once before you kill her,

Of course, it's also possible to kill all the roaches in the top chamber without letting the queen spawn at all, which is the fastest way, but it's pretty tricky.

Oh, and be careful when walking on the trap doors. You want to make sure you have a path out. Thankfully, there's no red door, although this room would still be solvable if there were...

The trap doors haven't been a problem for me yet, so that's a relief.

So far I've been putting the top mimic in the square to the southeast of the queen, but I'm beginning to think that's not the best place for it. Am I correct?

Oh, and please don't give the hold developers any more ideas for fiendish rooms. Our suffering is plentiful already.

EDIT: I've tried umpteen times now, and the best I can get is one roach left in the top chamber, just out of reach of my mimic. A gentle nudge, or a demo would be greatly appreciated.

You have to get "surrounded" by roaches so you get possibility of backward movement to go to the queen. Place your mimic in front of you and get encircled.

Hit F5 to start recording, play and hit F5 again to stop, or just play the room and hit F4 to save a demo of everything you did from entering the room up to where you are.

Well, if you restore to a checkpoint and hit F4 it'll save a demo of what you did in the room up to that checkpoint, if that helps...
