When I've solved this room, I usually have to take a couple of tries to get it right as well. I usually position the goblin so that he's standing in the corner, but can't enter the room because of a snake. Then, I just need to move one square or rotate my sword once to push him into the room. The key is doing that at exactly the right time. The problem is that there's only a one move-window of opportunity, and so placement order is going to play a role. If the snake was placed before the goblin, then you need to make the goblin move when the tail is in the place that the goblin is going to (since after you move, the tail will move, opening the square for the goblin to move into immediatly). But, if the snake was placed after the goblin then you have to move when the tail is past the square that the goblin is going to (since the goblin will move before the snake). To add to the complications, one or two of the snakes were placed before the goblin, while the others were placed after the goblin, so you have to do trial an error on each room.
