I've been stuck at this room for about a day now, and I have absolutely no idea how it could be solvable, and I need to do this room in order to progress any further in the level. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated. I've tried it from the left and right sides... I just don't know!

As Vertigo said, I'm obviously missing the right path to take. I'm attaching my demo of the closest I can get to the safe square. Do any of you have comments on what I'm doing wrong?? I'm getting raw spots of skin on my temples from trying to rub out my headache at this point!!!

I confess that without all this help I would never have figured out how to move through the mine field.

I think that there should have been more rooms that exposed you to the ideas in this level before these first rooms. It was not typical Journey style where you learn concepts that you will need later. If there is ever a revision to JtRh then I recomment that this level 15 be revisted and that some training or concept rooms be introduced first.

I am reminded about how tar was introduced in DROD (orig).

These are just my thoughts hope no one gets hurt feeling cuz I really have liked the rest of the game so far. And I think I would have liked these rooms on level 15 if I had some exposure to the concepts involved first.

I am missing something simple. I can beat the bombs, but don't understand how to get the mimic to the bottom roaches. Are the green doors supposed to drop after beating the bombs?

Well personally I went for the bottom roaches first, but I guess you're struggling with covering the distance between the 2 groups.

Let me try again. I have beaten the bombs and have used the mimic to kill the roaches at the top. Unfortunately, the red doors and green doors are still up so I can't get the mimic to the bottom roaches.

The red doors will open once you've dropped both trapdoors (the two squares on the left between the green doors). Just step on and off them with the mimic. Green doors only open once all monsters in a room have been killed.

I figured out how to get through as soon as I posted. Now I can't get back in time. I can get to the top/middle set of bombs in 12 moves and but I'm always 2 away from getting to the save point. I would attach a demo but I have a laptop and OS X and I can't figure out how to save a demo.

This is very frustrating!

The most likely mistake you're making is the direction of your sword when you step on the fuse:

Beyond that, the path is exactly the reverse of how you got in. You should only turn your sword three times on the way out.

Weren't there some rooms like this on the level that introduced bombs? I think this is the first time you are timed, though.

As far as reaching the fuse is concerned, it's not the most straightforward trip ever but it's not too hard, so I think you can figure out by trial and error. If you still can't manage to, ask and I'll send you a demo.
EDIT: (I misunderstood your problem regarding how to get out of the bombs' blast radius safely). Once you understand how to get to the fuse it's pretty easy,
