Query available command tools.
You do this, and realise you have none to command anything with in the first place. Your flash of inspiration fades, until you suddenly think of something else. You could still carry out an action yourself, even if you can't make the monsters do so.

Search for sand.
You scout the nearby area, and find a large patch of sandy ground.

Scoop up sand.
You find you have nothing to scoop up the sand with, so you try to use your hands. Unfortunately, you cannot seem to hold the sand properly - it keeps trickling out of your hands.

Use sticky mud on wool.
You combine the wool with the mud and shape the resulting sticky mass into the shape of a crude container. You leave it to dry in the sun for a few minutes.
You now have a muddy wool bucket.

Use bucket on sand.
You scoop up a hefty amount of sand, and, in spite of the small trickles out of the holes in the bucket that you missed, you obtain quite an amount of it.

Pour sand into cave.
You do this, and send a shower of sand onto the monsters below, who are not very amused by it. The cave is many times the size of the bucket, and you realise you would need to make many tens of thousands of trips in order to get enough sand to create a large enough sand pile to reach the hole in the ceiling. You somehow need to find a faster way of filling the cavern.
