I'm thinking the Help file should have three columns for UBB commands:

Command Name      Usage                        Result
Bold              [b]Bolded text[/b]           Bolded Text
Italics           [i]Italicized text[/i]       Italicized Text

The 2nd and 3rd columns could have multiple lines, like in your examples to show the different ways it can be used.

And I think the smilies definitely need to NOT be on the main Help page - I'll add a link for viewing them on a separate page, which will be generated dynamically.

Sure! It may take a bit of time though.

I'm thinking the Help file should have three columns for UBB commands:

While that looks nice on paper, both "Quote" and "Secret" tags need a whole new line...They'll just end up going either on the top or on the bottom instead. Sounds good!

Just small correction. -2 is not the smallest text and +2 is not the biggest text. You can use for example [size=+2][size=+2] to make this big text
(But -2 and +2 are limits in one tag)

I concur, this is a real substantial improvement, and will be quite useful to old and new forumites alike. Great job Gamer and Schik.

One note: there's a typo in the URL box; the last of the three formats (mailto) is missing a bracket.

Oh, and the [code] tag is missing, which is a shame since it's a useful one.

I've seen people use that before. I've kept quiet in hopes that it wouldn't be abused, and it has been used very sparingly. I'll just leave the help as-is though, because I don't really want to encourage either unreadably small or irritatingly large text.

The bold part doesn't show up in e-mails at all. Is it because of the lb and rb tags?

Edit: to clarify, when I made it bold it showed up...but both Eytan's original post and Schik's quoting of it had a blank space where it should have been.

To make the usefulness of pre-formatted text easier for newbies to understand, maybe supply an example that displays it explicitly? Something like:

This 
     is 
        preformatted 
                     text

(though of course the question of how to get the display of the code to align properly to match the result is a tricky one).

I write the actual ASCII code for - which is & # 4 5 ; (without the spaces) whenever I need to make a link with that character. If it's written as - the link will get cut.
