Currently, a player who did not author a hold must conquer it before he's allowed to edit it. Eytan brought up that this causes some problems:
1. If you lose your player data, then you can't edit the hold.
2. Collaboration with other authors is difficult because they can't edit one of your holds.
He suggested that anyone with a password should be allowed to edit the hold. I'd rather avoid using passwords to gain access to things. You still have the problem of somebody that gets locked out of their own hold because they forgot their password. Plus, I guess it just seems a little clunky.
How about this instead? Have a "
Who can edit?"
setting for Holds with three options: "
Only You"
, "
You and Conquerors"
, or "
Anyone"
. The default will be set to "
Anyone"
. The author may wish to set to "
Only You"
or "
You and Conquerors"
after he is ready to release the hold.
Mike, Eytan, anyone else, how does this sound?
