There is a tiny problem to address...
I've said before that the decision for choosing someone for this part will be separate from the popular winner of the contest. It might be that we end up picking the same person, but maybe not. Also, our first choice that we contact might not even be interested in working on recording for the part.
The problem is we want to get moving on the speech
now so that JtRH is done sooner, not later. It's dragging on longer than expected already due to bad luck that would surprise even Murphy. I considered moving the contest vote date up, but I thought that wouldn't be very civilized. The goal of contests is to get people to participate and have fun, and closing it off early works against that.
Instead, I think I will look for people to contact this weekend from the current stock of
very impressive audition samples, but keep the original Entry Cutoff Date. I'm going to contact one or more people tomorrow or Monday. So if you had your hopes up for playing a part in JtRH, you should get an audition entry in quick-like. And because some people on the Caravel team had long ago expressed an interest, I'm going to prod them too. (Neil! Matt!)
No announcements will be made about who is contacted so as not to influence the contest. If you don't have an audition sample here this weekend or if you aren't contacted for the part, don't despair! I'm collecting the samples for later reference. And in the future, I definitely foresee more auditions.
Hmm. That was a lot for me to type and you to read. I think I will summarize the practical points:
1. The deadline for making audition entries that will be considered for the JtRH part is Local Time:02-14-2005 at 12:00 AM.
2. The separate deadline for making audition entries that will be considered for the Grand Audition contest continues to be Local Time:02-21-2005 at 12:00 AM.
