OK, after several weeks I admit defeat. I've tried everything I can think of, in every order, and still the best I can do is get to the right-hand end of the room, with a roach, a goblin and a snake, before the tar spawns and I'm left with the unreachable baby.

Can anyone put me out of my misery before I abandon this room and hold altogether?

That's so weird... I've been stuck on this room for a while now as well (I've pretty much put the whole hold aside for a while). But when I went back to it, I was able to play through it quickly.

Thanks stigant, but I'm still making no progress. I've been trying exactly on the lines you suggest, but your point 3 is just beyond me; they won't do it, and come from behind. I've attached a demo of one of the countless variations I've tried of this approach; perhaps you can help me work out what I'm doing wrong.

I didn't have anything coming from behind me. You definitly want to herd goblins to the right, keeping them in front of you.

Sorry, my demo fell off when I edited the post. I attach it now; I've been following the same lines as you, but I always get one behind me. If I back up far enough to pull it down, I miss the spawn cycle. I've obviously missed something important, but what?
