I am a bit confused by this room.
Is the southern entrance supposed to be the return area of somewhere else, or is it a secret that I can access immediately?
I know I can kill the SE roachie to spawn an egg at (7,10), which would allow me to step on top of the crate at (8,10) and then use the grappling hook to access the room south of here, though this require an extra blue key.
However, I can kill the SE roachie using the crate and avoiding using the blue key, but in that case I "lose" the crate forever, so what is the point of the crate at (13,12)?

Am I missing something here?

I guess you'll just have to fork over that blue key if you want to see what's down there.

I thought it would be very funny to have a setup that looked like a treasure cache but instead was a harmless monster. The crate at (13,12) is primarily to mimic the crate inside the other treasure cache.

Yes, actually walking over the blue door is dumb and weird, but dumb and weird is the aesthetic of this particular bit, I think it adds to the mystery of what's going on in this room and encourages people to look harder at it. Or maybe in practice it just confuses them. No regrets.

Ok, that makes sense now!
I managed to save a blue key and discovered what's beneath down there, neat!
