Show briar diagonal connections (+1)
It was pointed out in the briar level of the Advanced Concepts series that briars can make diagonal connections through gaps between solid obstacles, but it doesn't look any different from if two diagonally adjacent briar tiles are separate.
Now, I've analyzed the briar graphics. It seems like how they work is that orthogonal tiles are connected by a sort of central branch with two smaller black vines on either side. Now, those central branches are probably too thick to be represented through diagonals, but the side vines are pretty narrow. So my idea is to have one of those little black vines go across the diagonal.
So, what would that mean numbers wise? Well, there are nine different tile types that could be adjacent to a diagonal that isn't also connected to an orthogonal. The 1X1, the four types of 1-wide dead ends, and the four corner pieces. The corners only need one new variant each. The dead-ends need three, and the 1X1 would need 15 (every possible combination, minus the one with no diagonals, which already exists). That's 31 new types of tile. Multiply by three for the root, growth and withered stages for a total of 93 tiles. Okay, that's a lot, but I think it's doable with enough patience and division of labor.
