I had some fun today asking Chat GPT about DROD and learned about a sequel that Caravel Games refuses to release

.
DROD: The Last Trial is the final adventure of Beethro.
Released on June 20, 2011 it had such amazing features we will probably never see because they are too cool:
The Stone Carver: The Stone Carver is a new NPC that can alter the environment of certain rooms. The Stone Carver can carve out sections of the stone in the room to create paths, block certain areas, or unlock new sections.
Soulbinds: Soulbinds are special mechanics that tie into the story and puzzle-solving. A Soulbind connects certain actions, characters, or events with specific consequences across different rooms or areas. These can affect your ability to move through rooms, deal with enemies, or interact with objects in specific ways.
Golems and Their Control: The Golem mechanic allows players to create and control golems, powerful creatures that can be manipulated to help solve puzzles. These golems are created using stone, which you can direct to interact with different elements in the environment (e.g., pressing buttons, moving obstacles).
Temporal Shards: Temporal Shards are a new type of object that can manipulate time within specific puzzles. These shards allow you to "
rewind"
or "
fast forward"
actions, creating interesting puzzle scenarios where timing is a key factor.
For example, you might need to use the Temporal Shard to create duplicates of yourself, rewind movements, or manage time-sensitive puzzles that require careful coordination.
The Neather and the Neather Doors: The Neather, as mentioned earlier, is a new antagonistic presence in the game, representing an otherworldly force tied to the lore of The Last Trial. The Neather Doors serve as obstacles that need to be dealt with in specific ways to progress.
Special Trap Variants: DROD: The Last Trial introduces new trap mechanics, such as invisible traps that cannot be seen unless triggered by specific conditions or interactions.
The Warden and Warden Powers: The Warden is a unique character that provides special powers or abilities to Beethro. These powers can affect the environment, enemies, or even Beethro's own abilities. The mechanic ties into a storyline aspect and adds to the puzzle-solving by introducing powers that can change the way rooms are interacted with.
Environmental Interactions: DROD: The Last Trial expands upon the idea of environmental interactions, where specific areas of the map, such as water, lava, and moving platforms, interact with characters or objects in new ways.
Dynamic Combat Mechanics: Combat mechanics are also enhanced, especially with the introduction of new monsters and combat strategies. These monsters may require specific techniques or interactions to defeat, pushing the player to experiment with different attack patterns, movement strategies, and environmental interactions.
But there's more! TSS was actually released 5 years before it was officially announced on the forums (on August 27, 2009). It's such a shame that the entire world could play the game for so long and we had to wait until June 2014, that's not how you treat your fanbase
So what do you think?

We should petition Caravel Games to release TLT, it sounds really exciting. I think I am most interested in seeing how The Neather interacts with Neather Doors, probably will have great synergy with Lava and the Moving Platforms

. Do you think there's a chapter where you play as a Warden doing some dynamic combat mechanics? The different attack patterns must be wicked sick

But I don't think water will be that good, it's like budget lava
Also I am excited for it to actually reveal the true nature of True Root

! Perhaps the slayers will be purple too
(for any cases of sudden Red Hawkism, there is no DROD: The Last Trial, it's Chat GPT hallucinating silly stuff. Caravel Games is not holding up any sequels and what not)
