v1.2.9 released 2023-09-29
Saved games from 1.2 and up are fully compatible with 1.2.9.

However, every attempt to load savegames from 1.2.7 shuts down the game due to "Error: can't deserialize interaction: too many events".

Where specifically have you downloaded this? I'm pretty sure that this was briefly an issue on Steam but already fixed.

Sorry, finally managed to restore my old password.

It's because I used a newer AGS version to run the game (yes, a newer one came just after your update...) and didn't notice you manually added the following to the config:

[override]
legacysave_assume_dataver=43
legacysave_let_gui_diff=1

Once added, it was fixed.
But once I click save in those older savegames, will they be converted to the newer version?

Yes.

As a side benefit, re-saving those older savegames turns them from almost 4.5Mb each to just 1Mb.
