Hey, congratulations to all the other winners! I'm honestly surprised my entry scored so high; during voting, I was mostly just pleased to see that all three of my challenges got used, and also with just how
well Hydro Plant took the challenge I wrote as a leaping-off point for a unique puzzle where waiting is genuinely hazardous.
I went with submitting one "
normal"
challenge prompt, one "
unusual but specific requiremnt"
, and one "
silly/requires interpretation"
prompt.
When voting, I didn't really write down a proper commentary record, but I tried to think about how good the room was
as a room without considering the challenge, how fun or at least interesting the challenge itself was, and how faithful the interpretation of the actual prompt was in producing the challenge. I generally scored a room lower on the "
challenge"
side if I felt like either (1) the room altered the meaning of the challenge away from what the prompt actually said to the point of needing a bunch of extra explanation (unless the prompt was already worded in a way that made this unavoidable, like my 'don't upset the gentryii fan'), or (2) the challenge the room
actually asks for could've been stated much more simply than the prompt's wording (like in Diagonal Domain, where it could've just been stated as "
don't take pickaxe"
).
