"Who's Online" said there were 10445 users for a moment, which is most of the users registered on the site.

It's technically possible that the entire userbase all decided to pop by at once, but it seems more likely this was some sort of technical issue, or possibly a security breach where someone managed to gain access to most of the accounts. Seems worth investigating.

It might also be something to do with the username that starts with 0x, which displays as "0" when viewing the architecture forum and as no name when viewing the actual thread they posted. Possibly they're dragging every username listed after them into the list when they're online.

There's a new record of 10453 users "online" at once today, and the 0x person has posted a new thread in Architecture, so that's some more circumstantial evidence of there being a connection.

I didn't see it happen when they posted in this thread earlier - specifically, I saw their name in the online list but not 10,000 other people. So maybe it's an issue that happens when they make a new thread? Or post an attachment? I'm just guessing here.

Yeah it looks like possibly something interpreting the username incorrectly somewhere.

Attached image is of the main forum index (showing '0x0485' posted at 09:08 AEST), and of the Architecture forum index at the same time (showing the post is by '0' instead).
