I am at a point where I want to throw Tendry's Tale into an infernal abyss. I've cleared out pretty much everything but no matter what I try with the items I can't find any combination that will let me get what I need to access the secret rule.
Problem 1:

×I think I may be missing some vital secret room somewhere. I have the hand bomb and according to what I read elsewhere, this can be used on a "gel mother". I don't know if maybe I already beat the gel mother another way or if I missed it, but I can't find this anywhere.

×I've also heard people refer to a "grappling hook". Is this separate from the "hook" that I need flippers to get?

×I need a way to get the flippers without using the orb, so that I can use the Orb to get Wyrmsmiter. Another forum post alluded to using the hand bomb in some fashion for this. Where specifically do I use the hand bomb?
Can someone please give me explicit answer(s)? I have read all the gently nudges in the forums that I can find but they have not helped at all. Like i said, I must be missing some vital secret room somewhere or something.
