icon A crazy hypothetical question (+1)
While looking through some level maps, I noticed that certain secret rooms in KDD with pre-placed mimics were still using the old "NPC that turns into monster" method from before mimics were just a thing that could be placed in the editor.

Now, I'll freely admit, I'm a code golfer. So I might have thought that in the 5.0 update they might be swapped out for the real thing, but that apparently didn't happen.

And then I thought, why should only the official releases benefit from this compacting? So the titular question is, how hard would it be to send some sort of program into all published holds to find every NPC set to look like a mimic whose script consists only of "turn into monster" and replace them with a simple in-engine mimic? Same could go for decoys.

And since I doubt anyone still uses the JTRH engine for editing, you might only have to do it once.
