My brain hurts.

Is there a logic to working out which holes in the wall to use when?

I printed it out and put big black arrows on the sections of corridor which had to be travelled in a certain direction. Still flummoxed.

What is the best way to approach this type of puzzle?

Well, if you want specific hints on this puzzle:


As for general ways to solve these puzzles, I start by trying to guess the solution, and if that doesn't work, I find a systematic way to examine all my possibilities.

Also, wherever possible, step diagonally (since you don't have to clear all the trapdoors and you don't want to have your way blocked because you took an unnecessary step somewhere early).

The key was the phrase "you don't have to clear all the trapdoors"

Two days spent trying to work out how to cover every red square - didn't notice the complete absence of red doors.

D'oh!

This game drives me mad. No, not mad, other word which ends in 'er' - madder. That's it.
